Masks at the Castle

Masks at the Castle

Anna Lorenzetti's masks resemble Venetian masks, which are divided into costumes, mainly from the 18th century, and fantasy masks that express the artist's intended concept. Anna Lorenzetti's belong to this strand. In fact, if at first they appear to be pure and simple Venetian masks, on closer inspection they appear to have different characteristics, i.e., they are all marked by the spirit with which the author creates them. All the dresses have the upper part that rises and acquires greater thickness than the basic dress, precisely because the concept that is being represented launches itself towards the sky to bear witness to its passage. Some dresses are inspired by the Three Wise Men, others by particular situations, but most are inspired by the Tarot cards, the author's old love, understood not as divinatory cards, as is commonly understood, but as hidden esoteric messages, according to the ancient Hebrew and Egyptian religions and the teachings of Giordano Bruno. The author's aim is: ‘the dream of giving a dream’ as she has always defined it, but also to transmit a message along with the donated, albeit hidden, dream. In addition to the beautiful masks, one can admire the author's personal collection of face masks.
